Lake Atitlan Boat Tour


Tour Description

This tour departs from Antigua at 5:30 a.m. in the morning and return at 6:30 p.m. We visit Panajachel (2 1/2 hours from Antigua) the main town in front of the Lake and we have a small walk through its most important streets. We then take a boat ride through Lake Atitlan and visit 3 small but lovely towns (Santiago Atitlan & San Juan & San Pedro La Laguna) at the other side of the lake.

In this region of Guatemala you will be able to appreciate the traditional clothing, such as in Santiago where men wear white knee-length pants with lila lines, long sleeve shirts and a hat. Women wear white “huipiles” (tunics) with geometric patterns, a red belt and a beautiful headdress.

San Juan La Laguna offers one of the few Guatemalan artisan groups still using natural dyes, and are known for its dedication to maintaining traditional weaving practices.

12:00 p.m.

Boat ride and visit 3 small towns.

  Visit to San Juan La Laguna (1 hour). Demostration how locals elaborate their textiles, naturally stained as an Maya heritage. Art Gallery Visit.
 

Visit to Santiago Atitlán (1 1/2 hours) We visit a Traditional Laundry - Bay View Atitlan with native women who follow the tradition of washing clothes by the lake. We then visit the Cathedral Catholic Church built in 1547 they use a particularly way to dress up their religious images.

Chichicastenango and Lake Atitlan Tour (Full Day)


Tour Description

We visit the Chichicastenango Market, the most important and impressive open air market in Central America and its church Santo Tomas. We walk through the market and you will have time to take some photos. In the afternoon we take a glimpse at the spectacular beauty of the lake and walk through the streets of Panajachel and its lakeside market.

Tour Description

We depart from Antigua Guatemala to Rio Dulce making a stop in Quirigua archeological site. Places we visit: San Felipe Castle and Livingston. Boat tour around the river and includes a night in a Hotel of your choice.

5:00 a.m.

Departure from Antigua Guatemala

9:30 a.m. We visit the Archaeological Site of Quiriguá. The site is best known for its stelae and altars carved (33 in total) in a unique style. They were in constant struggle for the dominance for the trade routes with the people of Copan.
11:30 a.m. We visit Puerto Barrios, where we will take a 45 minute boat ride to the Afro-Caribbean town of Livingston.
  Afternoon Free to visit the Garifuna Town of Livingston. We spend the night there.
8:00 a.m. We visit Rio Dulce including: the Sulfurate Waters, The Bird Island and the Castle of San Felipe de Lara.
3:30 p.m. Return to Guatemala City or Antigua, making two short stops along the way to rest.

Coban Tour


Tour Description

We depart from Antigua Guatemala to visit the Natural Reserve of Biotopo del Quetzal, Tac Tic, and then we visit Coban and stay in a double room for one night. The second day we visit San Juan Chamelco, San Pedro Carcha and the Orchid Garden.

Day 1

5:00 a.m.

Departure from your hotel in Guatemala City or in Antigua.

8:30 a.m. We visit the Natural Reserve of Biotopo del Quetzal. We can see a variety of plants such as ferns, mosses, fungi, and orchids. Birds such as Quetzals (very early in the morning or late afternoon), Cayayas, and Emerald Toucans can be seen. The Natural Reserve has an approximate area of 1017 hectares. Its altitude ranges from 1,500 to 2,300 meters. above the sea level. The annual average temperature is 16 ° C.
11:00 a.m. We continue to the town of Tac Tic to visit the Church of Calvary and its surroundings.

After Lunch

We arrive to Coban and visit its Central Park and its surroundings. Accommodation in Coban.

Day 2

 

The second day we visit San San Pedro Carcha, Juan Chamelco and the Orchid Garden (if available).

Afternoon Return to Guatemala City or Antigua we make one stop on our way back, at El Rancho.

Lake Peten Itza and Actun Kan caves


Tour Description

Departure from the hotel area in central Flores to visit the Actun Kan caves in Santa Elena. We take a boat to Petencito, the Wild Life Enviromental Educational Center, the University Zoo and the De Tayasal Peninsula. We then return to the hotel area in Flores.

Semuc Champey and Lanquin


Tour Description

This is a three day tour in which we visit the beautiful location of Semuc Champey filled with natural pools where you will be able to have a refreshing swim in its crystal clear waters. We also visit the caves of Lanquin to enjoy the different cave formations; the whole place is illuminated and clearly signaled. You will be traveling in a collective bus transfer and the Hotel is included.

Day 1

8:00 a.m.

Departure from Antigua

9:00 a.m. Or depart from Guatemala City to Lanquín (aprox. 7 hours Trip).
Afternoon. Arrival and accommodation at  accommodation in Lanquin, bungalow with A/C if available.

Day 2

8:00 a.m.

Breakfast at the Hotel.

9:00 a.m. We visit the natural pools of Semuc Champey and the caves of Cambá. This natural wonder consist of a series of rivers and streams that join to form several small natural pools. Take a light swim in its crystal-clear waters and watch the amazing vegetation and the rock formations around the site.

14:00 hrs.

Returning to Lanquin, we take some time to visit the Caves of Lanquin and enjoy the different cave formations the whole place is illuminated and clearly signaled. The inside of the cave is open to tourism on a footpath 400 m artificially lighting, facilitated in some parts by cement and metal bridges. However, the environment is wet and slippery in the caves, especially in the rainy season. Around the cave entrance and parking area there is a small forest where you can see birds and some small mammals.

Afternoon. Overnight at accommodation in Lanquin, bungalow with A/C if available.
Day 3
7:00 a.m. Breakfast.
8:00 a.m. Departure in collective shuttle transportation to Guatemala city or to Antigua Guatemala. The trip takes Approx. 7 hours.
Aprox. 15:30 hrs. Arrival to Guatemala City at approx. 15:30 hrs.
