Pacaya Volcano


Tour Description

Interesting and exciting active volcanoe type vulcaniano-estromboliano with latitude of 2570 m.o.s.l. We have two tours per day. one starting at 06:00am to 13:30pm and the other from 14:30pm to 21:30pm. The pacaya volcano is an active volcano.

Detailed Itinerary

Departure in the Morning:

6:00 a.m. 

Depart from Antigua to San Francisco de Sales, small town in Escuintla, with 1900 m.o.s.l.

7:30 a.m. 

Walking up to the crater (aprox. 670 mts) The hike will begins with a fairly strenuous hike through a wonderful pine forest, then it continues through a more tricky volcanic ash section and finally to the sulphur smoking cone.

9:00 a.m.

We walk to the crater area, exploration. From the summit we will be able to enjoy great views to the northern volcanoes, the pacific lowlands and all the way to El Salvador.

10:15 a.m. 

We begin to descend

11:30 a.m. 

Arrival to San Francisco de Sales, our vehicle will be waiting for us for our transfer back to Antigua.

11:45 a.m.

Transfer to Antigua Guatemala

13:00 p.m.

Arrival to Antigua Guatemala

Departure in the Afternoon:

2:30 p.m.

Depart from Antigua to San Francisco de Sales, small town in Escuintla, with 1900 m.o.s.l.

3:30 p.m.

Note: Q 50.00 p.p. admission fee not included to Pacaya Natural Reserve. Departs from Antigua Guatemala. Bring a camera, raincoat or jacket, flashlight, purified water, snack and comfortable shoes. Bring all this equipment in your back-pack and clothes in a nylon bag.

Fuego & Acatenango Volcano Camping (2 Day)


Tour Description

Fuego Volcano: 3763 altitude.
The climbing route is arduous to ascend, because it starts at 1400 m near Alotenango (about 36 x 2) and ascends to Fuego's summit in about 9 km traversing along the Quebrada San Jose, along a trail that appears on the top of map. It takes 8-10 hours of hard work.

Acatenango Volcano: 3936 altitude.
Is a strato volcano in Guatemala, close to the city of Antigua. The volcano has two peaks, Pico Mayor (Highest Peak) and Yepocapa (3,880 m) which is also known as Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters). Acatenango is joined with Volcán de Fuego and collectively the volcano complex is known as La Horqueta.

Detailed Itinerary


1 Day

06:00 a.m.

Departs from Antigua to San Juan Alotenango, where you will take a brief before to start to climbing up, it takes around 6 or 7 hours, all depends your physic condition. You will rest there and wait for the sunset at the west side that it takes a beautiful view and take pictures.

 

We arrive to Cumbre Yepocapa or Las tres Marias , with an altitude of 3,800 m.s.n.m. and we start to camp. You can cook your food and will do other activities with the guide.

2 Day

03:30 a.m.

You will be picked up and start to climb to Acatenango Volcano in order to appreciate the sunrise at the East side.

06:30 a.m.

We descend to the camp, cook and eat our breakfast in the Camp.

13:00

We are back in Alotenango.

14:00

Arrival to la Antigua Guatemala.

Price: US $75.00 per passenger minimum 3 passengers.

Note: Bring a camera, raincoat or jacket for cold weather, flashlight, purified water (3 liters at least), snack and comfortable shoes. Bring all this equipment in your back-pack and all of your clothes in a nylon bag (It might rain). Bring along your own food, Guide can help you cook it.

  • 1 Bilingual Guide (English).
  • 1 Paramedic with Radio to communicate with firefighters if necessary.
